Early Morning

Early morning still of the Petaluma waters
Reflecting the green and the gray
No hint of course of the flow that would follow
Eventually during the day.
Early morning still of the Petaluma waters
Wiping the slate of my mind.
Torrents of memories backed up from past
Pray tell me, where did they go?
Early morning still of the Petaluma waters
Receiving the blazing golden sun.
Oh how I wish I could touch that circle
Knowing that my life has just begun.
Early morning still of the Petaluma waters
Shows me really thatís who I am.
Rolling through the hours of the day that will follow
Please tie me firmly to that Stand!
Early morning still of the Petaluma waters
Broken by the sound of one bird
Calling all the geese from near and far
Who gather in silence around the pair.
Early morning still of the Petaluma waters
Wondering what mystic communion this is
As the groups swim away just as quiet as they came
I wonder what messages they took?
Early morning still of the Petaluma waters
Seventy three birds in all
Told me that silent messages are full of power
To access, one must rise early and be quiet.
